Will replacing the 1.6 ghz cpu with a 2.2 ghz cpu change my Dell inspriron e1505 from 32 bit to 64 bit system. I think it will but not sure. Thanks for any answers.

Solution
Asides from the 64 bit support needed from the CPU, you will also need a 64bit OS. So in short, no, upgrading the CPU alone will not change the system to 64 bit, you will also need to upgrade/install windows 64 bit.

Thanks for the answer, as for the OS, I only use Linux/Ubuntu and it will be a snap to download and install a 64 bit system. I guess I should have mentioned this in my question, I gave up on windows about six or more years ago. My reason for the question is that starting in March of 2016 the people at google will cease supporting Chrome for 32 bit systems in Linux/Unbuntu, of course Chromium will still be supported. Just wondering if changing to a higher GHZ cpu would do the trick and all I would need to do. Thanks again for your answer.

Well, Bootcher. I do happen to have an older burned DVD of Zorin OS in 64 bit that I burned for someone else. I will pull it out and try to see if it will boot up in the DVD drive. I do have three of these Dell Inspiron e1505 units in what I thought was 32bit units, my wife and I love them because they just keep working good. Thanks for the reply and I will see what happens.
