I have dell inspiron 3542 and i dont know how many ram slots are in my laptop.I currently have 4GB ram and i need buy 8gb ram.

Download and then run Speccy: https://www.piriform.com/speccy

This will tell you how many RAM slots you have and how many you are using. It will also tell you the name of your motherboard. If you post the name of your motherboard in your next post we can advise you on how much RAM you can get and what type you need.
