Hi peeps, hoping you guys can help.
As the title suggests, i'm very new to technical PC stuff, so apologies in advance for anything that does't quite make sense or more to the point, i don't understand what you're telling me!
So, to explain, I have an ADVENT PC, i7-3770 3.4ghz quad core, 12GB RAM, 2TB hard drive, nvidia gt630 2gb ddr3 graphics card.
I've had this computer a few years now and decided i would have a go upgrading it.
Firstly i bought a new GPU, a EVGA gtx950 sc. but as i only had a 450w PSU, i bought a g7 780w psu from Maplin.
The psu all went in ok, system worked fine. I then put in the graphics card, and this is where things have changed.
Basically after uninstalling the driver for the gt630, windows didn't detect any hardware changes, so didn't install any drivers for the GTX950.

I connected the PCI-E 6 pin from the PSU as required, the fans spin on the card etc

After then having blank black screens through trial and error and reading horror stories about what i potentially done though BIOS, i've since reinstalled the old gt630 and everything works as before EXCEPT on system boot up, after one beep from the mobo before loading windows, the system turns off, then restarts automatically and loads as normal.

I've read things about old drivers needing to be removed??

Any help would be appreciated as i've now ended up with a slightly glitched PC and a EVGA paperweight - wasn't quite the plan!

Thank you

Solution
The board is confirmed working with maxwell cards mate so not sure where the problem lies.

The 950 is a low power card so should work with your old PSU.

What I would to is completely remove nvidia drivers while you're 630 is installed.
If you're unsure how to do this properly the down load ddu uninstaller

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Give it a run through selecting remove nvidia GPU drivers & reboot.

Once done turn off PC completely.
Remove gt 630 & fit the gtx 950.

Boot to bios & reset bios to defaults.
Boot to windows & download & install the latest geforce experience package from here.
http://www.geforce.co.uk/geforce-experience/download

Run & install - it will fully update all...
firstly mate, take that downright sh1tty psu back to maplin & get your money back - 60 quid for that thing is a joke honestly.

for a tenner more you can go tier 2

the chances are your board may need an update mate - maxwell being a new chipset & your board being 3 or 4 years old may throw up an incompatibility

run cpu-z ,post a screen grab of the mainboard tab or just post your motherboard model & bios number on here

Cheers bud,

according to that software, it's a Advent DT2 1.0 model and BIOS is American Megatrends inc V.1.2B6??

Either way, i've removed the new PSU (which i'll aim to return if they're rubbish) and put the old PSU in and the computer still reboots once automatically??

Advent DT2313
Windows 7 Home Premium
64bit OS

Keep reading threads about the restarting being a common problem just before loading WIndows.
Weirdly when i went into the Bios and changed setting to the inbuilt OC settings, it didn't restart.
However having restarted since to check that had some how cured it, it still automatically restarts and always just the once. Odd.
