Hello community! I have been seeking some answers on how to safely and efficently run a overclocked 4690K, as well as my Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB. The mobo I use is a Gigabyte Gaming 3 Z97, with 24 gigs of RAM @ 1600mhz. The cooler that I am using is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

My question is that can I overclock to safe clock speeds without crashing (BSOD-level)?

Update - I had a few BSODs/Post BIOS crashing after attempting to slightly OC my CPU.... Is there a detailed OC guide for the mobo I am using? Because I honestly want to squeeze the performance out of this chip yet I dont wanna overdo it.

Update 2- I upped the cpu to a 4790K and the cooling to a Corsair H100i.

Side note - I do however have my Old Intel i5 750 @ 4ghz with the RAM at stock with stable speeds that I am using for a Server Box.

on 4790k try 4.5ghz and 1.25vcore seems to work for everyone, then slowly by 0.01v decrease the vcore and run prime95 version 26.6 for 10mins, every 10mins reduce the vcore by 0.01v and prime95 version 26.6 for 15mins gives u a bsod. after that set your vcore to the last stable voltage. for me im at 4.6ghz at 1.22vcore and im happy with that

if you're using a z97 board which you probably are with the 4790k watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-oAf2tVDcg
