Corsair K70 and mechanical keyboards in general. Worth getting?

I'd like to break up with my bad habit of buying cheap and unreliable peripherals for my PC.

I used to think it's not worth it to spend more than 10-15 bucks on a mouse - but after having pulled out almost all of my hair due to the double clicking, automatic cursor moving (without being touched), crappy quality mice in that price range, I've changed my mind and bought a Logitech G402. Along with an Asus GM50 pad. I can see the quality differences between no-name, cheap "gamer" mice and this.

I'd like to take this step for my keyboard, too. Tbh, I've never had a mechanical keyboard of any sort, and with my store-seen experiences so far, the only thing I know about them is that they are loud. At least before I did some reading, and in all the articles it's stated that a mechanical keyboard is for life.

Currently, I've got a Logitech K120, cheap and good. It does a good enough job in general stuff, been working for a year without a problem. But... I've earned my money and I'd really like to own a quality piece of keyboard. It's part sentimental/psychological, part because of the features I've seen them offer. Still I can't help but question if it's really worth it to spend about $150 on a keyboard.

What do you guys think of mechanical keyboards in general (both for typing, a lot, and gaming), and of Corsair's K70 model? Both the normal and the RGB versions. I like the RGB but the price difference between the two is really not worth the money for me, just for fancy lights.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.

the price thing is what gets me but think about it. the keyboard and the mouse is the interface, they are the most touched devices you will own. as such they should be comfortable. I have been using the same model keyboard for 16 years. they are no longer made and this is my last spare. Lite-on SK-6000. on the three I have owned I have spent more than 150 on them. I only wish they were longer lasting. the price for a quality keyboard and mouse is well worth it, treat yourself. they provide all the tactile interaction with your pc and if they are not painful (physically/mentally) you will enjoy your pc more, you will be able to concentrate that much more when gaming. it seems like alot but it is worth it.

they have quieter mechanical switches available, personally I love the sound.

Definitely worth getting a mechanical for gaming. As for RGB it's just personal preference. Mechanical will take a while to get used to but now that I've gotten used to one the difference between it and membrane keyboards seems huge to me. Mechanical keys will also not get softer over time (unlike membrane) and they're higher quality keyboards in general.
