Need help with upgrading my old rig.

Hi, I have an old rig with:

Motherboard - ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
GPU - GeForce 8600GT.

I was wondering if upgrading the GPU or CPU will result in better gaming performance in games (like CS:GO)?

P.S. At the moment it has 2GB of RAM, but I am thinking about upgrading it to 8GB.

depends how much you want to spend, if you go down the route of upgrading the gpu to a latest one you could always take it to another machine later on. But upgrading the cpu I think is a waste of money as you will be replacing it with a chip what's already old.
