Well Met, I am quite new to building PC's and I'm currently trying to build a mid range PC. I've done some looking around for some quality parts, this is the kind of build I'm looking at. The PC would be for general use and moderate to hardcore gaming, hopefully built to last. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Current concerns are:

  • ■ If this architecture is too old and I should opt for something newer
    ■ The power supply being either not enough or too much, I tried a power supply calculator and it said around 500 watts is ideal.
    ■ The case is around $150~ although not too big of a problem, a more budget case would be ideal

Any ideas on parts that are more bang for the buck or parts that need that little extra cash but are well worth it such as GTX 970, etc.

I've become a fan of Nvidia Chipset Based GPU but I have yet to try radeon and am willing to switch with the right persuading.

The current list of parts:
CPU: Intel Core i5 6500 3.20Ghz Quad Core CPU LGA 1151 - BX80662I56500
Motherboard: Gigabyte H170-HD3 Socket LGA1151 ATX Motherboard - DDR4
Memory(RAM): Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz RAM, Black-CMK16GX4M2A2666C16
Internal Hard Drive: Seagate 3TB Barracuda 3.5" Internal Hard Drive ST3000DM001
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB Solid State Drive - MZ-75E250BW
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 - White, Fractal Define 4 or Coolermaster MasterCase 5
PSU: Corsair CX750 750Watt 80+ Bronze Power Supply
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming 4GB Graphics Card

Thanks for looking feel free to leave any comments, thanks in advance any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This should suit you much much better.
Difference: I5 6600, had the budget, why not?
Switched from 3TB to 1TB caviar blue, you can easily upgrade later.
750w was way to over the requirement, switched to 600w.
Very very good case.
2x4 ram, can be upgraded later.
Why all of this : GTX 970 over GTX 960. Yes, far far better investment.
