My question is what kind of oc do you use? As in mem and core clocks, and voltage? Do you have reference coolers or non-reference?

I have a 7990 at stock clocks 1000/1500, core/mem, with reduced voltage by 75mV. I would like to tri-fire my card with the 7970.

Do you think I could get any edition of the 7970( even the non-GHz edition ) and oc to match my 7990's clocks and maybe slightly reduce the voltage from stock?

Solution
a 7990 is 7970 cf, but not all oc the same. its best the get a 7970 that almost has the same clock speed as the 7990 if not better, because if its better, it will be able to downclock

I appreciate the reply. I am aware of what my card is and about the troubles of running different clocks, hence the question about overclocking. Really I just want to be sure I can "safely" oc a 7970 if I have to. I'd prefer the GHz edition due to it's better clocks but It's proving hard to find. Worst case scenario I could consider dropping the 7990 clock by 50MHz and maybe a slight memory drop to better match the cards.
