Hello everyone, before I begin I would just like to point out my punctuality is terrible so please bare with me.

So some background about the current problem; I am currently getting connection drops through wired connection, I have been having this problem for around a month and a half, left my old ISP and bought a contract with a new ISP, both connections were fibre. The example today will be a game called darkscape (basically runescape 3), what happens is I suddenly get a semi screen freeze for like 10-20 seconds, but you can still see animations of NPCs wings etc. I disconnect from the game and re connect straight away. As you can tell this is unplayable.
I have a video here for you as it is hard to explain.

Specs
PC

  • i5 4690k
    r9 280x
    16Gig hyper X
    Coolermaster cpu cooler
    500W PSU
    Gigabyte ga-h81m-h
Internet services

  • EE Fiber - 2 years no hassle, then all of a sudden two months ago, it started happening.
Bt Infinty 2 - Superfast fiber (just got activated today) (Current)

Now, what i have done so far is everything I could think of.

  • I have tried two routers.
I have been through 6-8 calls from EE trying to fix this. ( restarting router etc )
Two engineers have came out, one to check my end, he said that it was fine and there was a problem underground. The other dude didn't show.
Multiple line checks from EE, they always say there's nothing wrong, then when they cant find it they say there is a fault on my line.
I have tried wireless; still happens but not so often for some weird reason.
I have tried going straight from the router to my pc
    Power line adapters
A laptop to make sure it was not my pc.
Now here is the big one - hotspot from my phone 3g. (this works perfectly on my pc and on the laptop)
I still have to try the laptop through Ethernet on my new connection from BT.
I have tried windows 10, windows 7, windows xp.
    Tried reinstalling drivers.
Tried using internet with phone line disconnected (LOLL, worth a try).

Okay, since ive named everything, i have narrowed it down to two possible problems.

  • My motherboard is fried somehow and the Ethernet port is not working properly.

There is a problem underground like the engineer said, he told me that there would be someone coming out to fix, they never because its not fixed.

Update the night of the BT service activation
I tried the laptop through wired and wireless, still having the same problem.

I have also rang BT, they came out with " we cant do anything because we have no information and the service is still stabilizing. It takes 10 days"
10 fucking days.. pardon my French but I have never been so angry in my life. So I go 10 days without internet because I know its not going to be fixed, because we are having the exact same problem as I had with EE prior meaning something has to be wrong with the line. Can someone explain to me what im paying for here, 10 days.. im so angry right now.

I dont know where 10 days have come from, if he said three or 24 hours then fair enough.
We have had the same fiber line in from BT and our line has not been changed for years now.
So why all of a sudden 10 days? The fact that web pages are not loading up at times etc this is a joke. im about to tweet them to show people how bad BT really are as a company. they run all the lines and they are so bad.

10 <<blanking>> days.. pardon my French but I have never been so angry in my life. No , the only game it doesn't happen with is left4dead2 I've tried three games . Runescape, league of legends and l4d2.

I am going to download some more games
Tonight maybe some steam games.

I rang BT again and they seem to think that I'm not actually
Loosing connection and they have done numerous line checks and the connection is running brilliant. But obviously they think I'm ringing up just to have a laugh ?

As a side note it's not just games , it's downloads such for instance when I'm updating league I'm getting 3000kbs download and its going fine then all of a sudden it will drop to 0 and I'll have to restart the client.
Also when I'm browsing the web, webpages won't load sometimes but as soon as I refresh they load.

At this point I'm 100% certain there's a fail on the line due to the waterboard digging up a pathway near my house around about the time this all started happening.

What annoys me is they think it's a speed issue and it most certainly is not. 20-40 meg download and 5-7 upload is great! But my 2 bar 3G hotspot still runs better

IhateISPs, did you find a solution? I'm having the same problem ever since they installed fibre optics in my area. Living in a different country actually but I'm having the same issues as you, making all games unplayable and my ISP keeps insisting that everything is fine. HELP!
