My wireless USB adapter cant find my 5Ghz Network

First off i ust want to say that english isnt my native language so if theres something you dont understand please ust ask, im also not good at this technical stuff so bare with me if im a bit slow.

External USB adapter: ASUS USB-N53 802.11a/b/g/n Network Adapter

Windows OS : Windows 7 Home Premium

Now then, I`ve never had any problems finding my 5Ghz network but suddenly one day it wouldnt show up anymore under my available networks.

-Checked my tablet and my 5Ghz network id shows up there.
-My Usb adapter picks up other 5Ghz networks (neighbours)

At first i tought my External adapter didnt work properly but since i can still find other 5Ghz networks that dosnt make any sense.

Theres probably a whole lot of information you guys want to be able to help me out here but like i said im not good with this stuff, ust ask !

Could be some interference now blocking your computer's access. Any furniture moves, construction work, or other changes anywhere?

Does not take much to cause a signal to degrade.

Try using a USB extension cable (maximum length 15 feet or 5 meters) to raise up and move about the external adapter.

If that does not work then try reinstalling the USB-N53 wireless adapter and reconfigure it for your network.

After all that, if the adapter is not connecting, it may have failed in some way. You could try installing the adapter on another computer to see if the adapter works there. If not, then you most likely need a new adapter.

Tried all of the above, nothing works. Thanks for trying! Anyone else got any suggestions?

Regarding signal degredation, Im getting the 2,4ghz in at full signal doubt its that.

Check the 5 GHZ setting in the modem

What are you looking for there? The only thing connected to it at the moment is an Iphone, this means it has to be broadcasting right?

Or dbl click on the adapter in device manager. Maybe someone disabled the 5 ghz here

In the device manager how do i know if the 5ghz has the correct value set?

Well is it disabled or enabled? The option maybe under the general tab

I have to go under advanced to see it, "Country Region (5GHz)" is set to "#1(36-140)"
the only things not enabled is adhoc support and IEEE802.11h

If theres a channel mode is it on 2.4 + 5G?? Not just 2.4?

Yes its on 2,4 + 5. I know my sister had some issues on her mac, can she have done something? She got a new IPV6 adress or something.

Have no idea. Remove your adapter, then plug it in back. See if the 5 GHZ comes back

Unless windowsupdate updated its driver

I had a similar prob with these adapters but they're TPLink.

Win10's drivers didnt support the 5 GHZ, and TPLink's were just as useless. Both only saw a 2.4 connection

I had to use a 3rd party driver to fix it. So I could connect to either

But it does sound strange that you can pick up the neighbours. So it maybe a modem prob somewhere

Seems to me it has to be something with the Router settings or my PC because I can connect to the 5GHz band on my phone, no idea what could cause my computer and only that to not detect it?

If i try and manually add the network it shows up as "unnamed network" but i cant connect to it.

Well I would either replace that adapter reset / configure the modem, or update the modem's firmware but use cable if you do.

Or replace both of them

Finally figured it out, changed the channel the network was broadcasting on, guess the neighbour was using the same channels or something, thanks for you`re help!
