I want to eventually upgrade my system with a 1TB SSD but I want to know if it would be worth having a dedicated SSD for the OS. I have read that there are benefits for doing this with regular HDDs.
An SSD + HDD it makes sense, with a smaller SSD. The OS can benefit from the SSDs speeds where anything non-speed dependant can settle for the HDD. With a 1TB SSD, you don't really have the same problem. Depending what else you're using on the SSD, it may increase the number of writes to a drive and lower it's life-span, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.
