Alright so I got linux and my usb and formatted it with pendrive universal usb installer, now all i have to do is plug it in and boot from the usb. But after that will it automatically install it to my hard drive that I have in the pc or is there something else I will have to do so I can boot from the hard drive in the future?

it will boot a live version. it''l load the os from the thumb drive. you can try it out, see if you like. there will be an icon on the desktop called install mint linux, click on that and the install will start.
