Which PC is better for gaming?

I vote for the first. The 960 is much better for gaming. The i3 will get you good enough performance. You wouldn't notice the i5 improvement most of the time except in the most demanding games where the 960 will matter more anyway.

This is true: you do either need to buy a heatsink or get the retail version of the i3 that includes one. You can't run a system without one.
