Hi, I recently built my new gaming / moderate workstation computer a few days ago and I am reusing quite a few components from past systems, such as my Crucial 120GB Sata III SSD. I can't directly boot to it, so I had to hook up a secondary hard drive which had windows 10 on that, and install Windows 7 on my SSD via my windows 10 drive. I have verified that I can read and write to the drive through my external hard drive, yet for whatever reason I cannot boot to it. My BIOS detects it all fine and dandy, but when I try to boot to it, It displays the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key". Whenever I try t boot to my USB Drive to install windows, it doesn't detect any drives. When I hop into either my secondary drive or my device manager, my SSD / Hard drive get recognized when I install windows 7 opn my SSD via my windows 10 OS.

I don't care about any of the data on either of my drives, I have already backed up everything to an off site location, so feel free to offer whatever solution works. I have tried many things, so keep that in mind too.

Hey there, Spohnicus.

What do you mean by "install Windows 7 on my SSD via my Windows 10 drive"? What drive are you referring to, as you've mentioned that the USB flash drive doesn't recognize the HDD and the SSD? I'd recommend that you start fresh and format the SSD (by using "quick format", never go with "full format" when it's an SSD), or you could even secure erase it with the SSD manufacturer's tool (most SSD manufacturer's offer tools for their drives with which you can manage them, which also includes secure erase). After that disconnect all other drives except the SSD and install Windows 7 on it. This should help you create a different USB installation media, to try and install Windows 7 with it...

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
