Pc lag after re-installing Windows 7

I had lag before i re-installed W7,and viruses, and alot of crap, then i reinstalled windows7 to format the pc,and get better performance after the reintall, the lag got worse!
updated my pc from 32bit to 64bit
2gb RAM,Pentium R Dual Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz 2.70GHz,

You hard drive could be failing, download hard drive diagnostic tool from manufacturer. Also did you do a proper hard drive format when installing windows, quick format is not always perfect especially if virus infections are many and the hard drive almost full to capacity.
