Hi I hope this is in the right category it's my first time posting here. A few days ago my sound blaster z stated giving me problems. It no longer played audio in game, and it also doesn't play any sound when I tweak it in the Sound Blaster Control Panel. The odd thing is Windows can play audio just fine. I can even go to playback devices, hit configure then click on specific speakers and they will sound. If I do that in the SB Control Panel no audio plays. Since then i have rolled back and forward the audio drivers to no avail. What really perplexed me was during one of the times I rolled back the drivers I used the included driver disc and the audio returned. Disturbed but not wanted to miss an opportunity to game i played a few rounds of BF4 then went to sleep. The next day the audio issue resumed. I tried the same fix to no success. I've reinstalled Windows 10, and even tried Windows 8.1 but so far I haven't met success. I built this computer to play games and watch tv shows/movies (I know very lame) and this issue is starting to get very old. I look forward to all the advice, and thanks in advance!

So it turns out that my graphics driver was causing the issue, even though it updated Dec 21st and the issue presented itself almost a month later. I preformed a clean install, then used the cd to install the SBZ drivers first (even before chipset drivers) and created a restore point because i had jumped between different versions of Windows a few times already. Then when i got to installing the nVidia drivers i didn't hit "clean install" ( i usually do) because a few minutes earlier I had and my audio had gone out. Lo and behold, my sound card was working again! Now I flip a coin to see if my audio will disappear when I install new software! =D
