Hi, I recently purchased a Zoostorm a quick fix to replace my failing old system.

Currently running:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G3260 @ 3.30GHz
GIGABYTE GA-H81M-S2V
Crucial 8GB DDR3
Windows 7 64bit

On boot up I receive this (below).... before windows loads.

>>Checking Media Presence....
>>Media Present....
>>Start PXE over IPv4 (which then changes to IPv6)

Also....
1. It will not load/Run Windows Update (I have changed settings, which it seems to reset on start up).
2. USB overload, states its running 17 ports....I have 4 rear/2 front & 6 port dock
3. Will not install driver for printer.

So, my quick fix business computer is turning into a pain in the neck! If anyone has suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kat.

Solution
Honestly, at this point, it sounds like it is the printer itself if you tried all of this and plugged another printer in and it worked. I think the best resolution at this point would be to get a new one.

Okay, so that thing you see before Windows loads, that is your computer trying to boot up from a network/media device; this means your boot system sequence is off. To fix that, go into the BIOS of your computer and into the boot options, make sure the HDD is set to first and then whatever you want for second, third, etc.

What do you mean it will not load/run Windows Updates? When you try to run it nothing happens?

How/where does it state its running 17 ports? Where do you see that at?

What happens when you try to install the driver for the printer? Do you get an error message?

Good morning Thejackel85.

Thanks for your response...changing the bios worked...many thanks.

Windows Update: I went to update hoping it would help with my printer issue. I receive this error -
Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.

I did a little research online, followed a guide to activate WU, restarted and nothing, same error.

USB: The error came up as bubble, I clicked the error and it state I was running 17 USBs....Does appear to have fixed itself, I checked the driver manager this morning and it reads now that I have the correct number of USBs running.

Printer: as the printer is not installing the driver as I connect it, I went to windows update (and thats not working) I downloaded the driver from Canon...now receive this error: No IJ printer driver is correctly installed, install IJ printer driver correctly so that printing can be excuted and then install the XPS printer driver.

There is Mirosoft XPS Document Writer installed.

OTHER: When checking my USBs this morning in Device Manager, I noticed 2 errors flagged:

PCI Simple Communications Controller
USB Cable Modem

I appreciate your time :)

Glad changing the BIOS worked!

That error you got with Windows Update can usually mean the service is turned off. Click start and type in services.msc, sort all of them in alphabetical order and scroll down to the bottom, one of them should say "Windows Updates". Make sure that service is turned on, restart and try again. If you get the same thing again, open a command prompt window and type in sfc /scannow and try after a reboot from that.

For your printer, it sounds like you might have downloaded the wrong driver (I know they can be confusing). You want to download the PCL or PCL6 driver for your printer. Run that setup and try installing wit that.

For the device manager error you're getting. Do you have a card in your computer that has USB ports on it?

Hello. Thanks again for the reply.

Windows Update, fixed.
PCI Simple Communications Controller, Fixed.
USBs Fixed.

USB Cable Modem, Not fixed...cannot find driver....however internet works so im not bothered.
Printer, not fixed...it will install driver now, reaches the last part, says the cable is not connected (it is) I have even changed the cable, the computer 'pings' at a cable being unplugged and plugged back in.

Slowly getting there...even though i am desperate for my printer as I use it a lot for work projects...actually got no work completed this week at all due to this problem :(

Once again I appreciate your time.

It sounds like the USB port you're plugging your printer into may not be working correctly. Can you try a different USB port? Also, for plugging in printers, you never want to use a port in the front of your computer, those do not provide nearly as much power as the ones in back.

Good Afternoon, Just an update still no printer joy :( I am really at the end of my patience now as I am really falling behind with work. I am currently thinking its the printer itself. I have change USB able & ports (not front one, I did know that about that) I have unplugged all USBs except Mouse, tried all ports, mouse works fine in all including front ones...printer will not work on any. I run the driver, I always receive cannot detect canon printer......However, plugged in old laser printer we use on an old machine in the foiling room (this printer has to easy be 10 years old) and it was detected without having to install driver!

Could it be the printer itself?
