I've just completed the assembly of a new PC.
All the components are new, this is not my first build. MSI A88XM Gamiing, AMD A10-7870, 16gb Memory and the list goes on...
I've used Windows 7 Professional and installed Google Chrome as a browser as I've had good success with it in prior units.
This time everything seems correct, the machine works well with 2 exceptions... Google Chrome cannot open any websites, I get the google home page but that's it. I have set it as "allowed" in the firewall settings but it does not make a difference. A couple times it connected and seemed fine and then back to " This Webpage is not available ". Other machines are connected to the same modem with no connectivity problems.
The second is one of the svchost processes is using 1,749,000 worth of memory, nothing seems to change when I stop the process but after a while it's back to that number or a similar value.
Are the two issues connected or related ?

Any suggestions here will be greatly appreciated.

Make it a great day.

This might be related to svchost. I can recall I had issues with new computers until it updates the system, you should try to wait a bit, also I think there some sort of hotfix from microsoft for this issue.

There is a problem with freshly installed windows 7 sp1.
Windows update is not working and svchost using a lot of memory.

Check windows update on your computer.
If you have this problem mentioned above, then you will need to install update KB3112343.
After that apply all security updates.

Installed all available Windows Updates...

When accessing Google Chrome, the first request if given as "Weather" lets say brings up the google results as one would expect. The second request, choosing any of the available choices brings up "This webpage is not available.

When entering "Weather.com" as an example the result is "This webpage is not available"..

there is a note that Windows firewall is preventing the access... something about a "MWAH Mac" Filter...

Any thoughts on that ?

Appreciate all the help.

Got it...

It's Malwarebytes... I uninstalled the program, everything works as normal... never had this problem with Malwarebytes before...

Thank you all for you input.

Now I just have to figure out what Malwarebytes changes are needed to have it all work together.

Make it a great day.
