Hi everyone, couple weeks ago i built my first pc myself.
Specs are
zalman z11 case
corsair h60 push pull as intake
i5 4690k
r9 390x
16gb ddr 1600mhz corsair vengeance
evo ssd 500gb
2tb hdd

Everything seems to be working just fine, but for some reason my cpu temps skyrocket when they are on full load.
I have the cpu now overclocked at 4.1ghz with a vcore of 1.065v, got it running stable but the temps aren't good enough i think. Temps when under load are about 75-78°C which i think is just to high. When idle temps at 4.1ghz are about 35-40°c.
Even when i downclock to default, the load temps are beyond normal. 65-68°c on the base 3.5ghz at 0.992v :/

i really need some help here since i have no idea what could be wrong. Reapplied thermal paste already, fitted push pull fans and so on.

Many thanks in advance!

Could be that the base plate or locking mount needs to be seated better. What you have discovered is that the waterblock is not in proper contact with the CPU. That probably means that the hot liquid id not so hot. If you can leave your finger in contact with the pipe near the block easily, it is NOT carrying enough heat away.
You are right in that those temperatures are too high, especially for that voltage and speed.

What is your ambient temperature in the room?

I would run the computer with the side panels off and see what that does. If you get a significant drop in temperatures, it is a sign of poor airflow or cooling in your case. The 390X is a hot card and may be overheating the contents of your case.

If that does nothing, then we need to look at the cooling of the cooler itself. I'm not much in favor of small radiator liquid coolers, except in special circumstances. You need to check that the fluid from the block to the radiator is hot (70C+) and the fluid going from the radiator to the block is cool (35C-) An ordinary thermometer can do that.

Let us know the results.

Alright, so reseated everything. Sadly i don't have an thermometer but just by touching the piping i van already feel that there is a difference in temperaturen between them. Temps still topping out at 77°c :/

I think i have it, when i press the waterblock really hard temps drop straight to the low 50's. Hows this possible? Is my block not pushed down hard enough? I tightened it all the till i could not go any further :/

Putting my finger next to the block is no problem, it's just warm. That's about it. The screws are tightened all the way down. Trying to add extra washer to the backplate so it won't be that loose :)
