Hi everyone, couple weeks ago i built my first pc myself.
Specs are
zalman z11 case
corsair h60 push pull as intake
i5 4690k
r9 390x
16gb ddr 1600mhz corsair vengeance
evo ssd 500gb
2tb hdd

Everything seems to be working just fine, but for some reason my cpu temps skyrocket when they are on full load.
I have the cpu now overclocked at 4.1ghz with a vcore of 1.065v, got it running stable but the temps aren't good enough i think. Temps when under load are about 75-78°C which i think is just to high. When idle temps at 4.1ghz are about 35-40°c.
Even when i downclock to default, the load temps are beyond normal. 65-68°c on the base 3.5ghz at 0.992v :/

i really need some help here since i have no idea what could be wrong. Reapplied thermal paste already, fitted push pull fans and so on.

Many thanks in advance!
pj

You are correct to be concerned. My computer runs cooler than yours on the stock cooler at higher speed (see signature).
That definitely shouldn't happen.
My best guess is that your cooler is not making correct contact with your CPU, or that you didn't put the thermal paste on properly, or possibly you have your cooler fans blowing the wrong way.
Suggest you remove cooler and try again. (many videos on youtube showing how to do it).
IF you still have a problem - try the stock cooler. If it is better, your h60 cooler is not working properly

Have tried all of that, except going back to the stock cooler. Will try that straight away,
Figured those temps are not okay :/

Just tested the temps with the stock cooler and they are A LOT lower. At 4,1 GHz overclocking the cores max out about 60°c
That's not even close to what my h60 gets. Paste was also nicely apllied on the h60. Something is wrong here...

Some more testing, in black ops 3
Cpu temps with stock cooler are 60-61-64-61 at 4,1ghz.
With the h60 temps in black ops 3 were, 72-73-75-72.
I have no idea what i'm doing wrong with the h60 :/

Looks like 4.2 or 4.3 GHz should be possible on the stock cooler. For most applications, this should be plenty.

Thing is, i bought the h60 because i would like to Use it :p
There's something i must be doing wrong tho :/ just don't know what. Or the h60 is a faulty one?

Lol yes, plugged the pump in :p showing around 4300 rpm :)

Well, you can make the stock cooler work, so it can't be a problem with thermal paste or attaching the h60 cooler to the CPU.
So either the h60 system has some air in it, or the pump is not working, or the radiator is blocked.

I can't see the point of water cooling myself. If you do an extreme enough overclock to actually need the water cooling, the high Vcore voltage involved in such an overclock will probably shorten the life of the CPU considerably

I actually solved it, by accident tho. Out of frustration i pushed pretty hard on the block and suddenly noticed temps went down instantly... Problem was that the backplate was to loose, so even if i tightened the screws on the block all the way, there was not enough pressure on the CPU itself. So i added some extra washers to the backplate et VOILA! It works, load temps on aida64 have not gone above 50°c yet :D
Many thanks for all the help, this one is defo solved now :)
