Hi everyone, I recently built a new computer.
I decided to do some overclocking and got my i5 4690k to 4.5ghz @ 1.25v with hyper 212 evo.
My temps never went above 70 on any of the cores using small FFT on prime95 or intels extreme tuning utility.
Is this fine? Will this drastically decrease the lifespan of my i5? I'm pretty new to overclocking so this is pretty scary to me tbh, I don't want to destroy all my new hardware. What temperatures should I look out for, really what im asking is what would be my ideal temperatures so that I don't degrade the chip at a fast pace.

Solution
Things that reduce lifespan are mostly high voltage, and to a lesser extent, high temperature.
You have a sensible voltage and good temperatures.
So I would expect your CPU to last many years
Voltages are near the upper limit I recommend, but they are still fine.
Technically OCing does degrade the chip, however by the time that actually makes a difference in lifespan the processor will be too obsolete to run anything. Its not like your processor is going to fail in a year because you OCed. It will last for a long time.

Sounds good. Just run some benchmarks and games for more than 3 hours. If you see some slutterings and strange frame drops go with lower speeds. Experminate from low to low with the cpu and learn his limits.
