So I just built my new computer:
Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit
Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.00GHz
16.0GB 8x2 G.SKILL 3200MHz
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO
MSI GTX 980Ti GAMING 6G
500GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO
256GB M.2 NVMe Samsung SSD 950

I have the 500GB running AHCI but I hear I should be running my 256 in some form of RAID even though its a single drive. Any thoughts or input is welcome, thanks in advance!

You don't need to do anything, other than install the Samsung Magician software. Oh, and install the Samsung NVMe driver.

Samsung Magician and the NVMe Driver are available here. Scroll down to Samsung Magician Software for PC and download v4.9.5, and then scroll down to Samsung NVMe Driver Installer and download v1.1 of that. Ignore the rest of the stuff on that page, as you don't need it. Install both. Then use the Magician software to make sure both drives have the newest firmware installed.

One thing I noticed is that Windows supposedly runs drive optimization to TRIM the drive every week. It never actually did it for me (probably because I'm on the computer during late night hours), so I made a habit of manually...

Okay, so first off, let me thank you for all the help so far. The drive is recognized now and has 'Good' health with the most up to date firmware. Only thing is my Random Read (IOPS) only hits about 200000, falling decently short of the 270000 benchmark it sets for itself, the Random Write (IOPS) seems a little low as well. However, I will say these numbers have vastly improved since the installation of the driver. So I guess my question is, is this okay? Should I be concerned?

Samsung is going to be updating their benchmark so it more accurately reflects their IOPS claims. In the meantime, you can use AS-SSD benchmark. Make sure it's version 1.8.something and run it. Once you run it, click the View menu and choose IOPS. The 4K-64Thrd line will have your accurate read and write IOPS score. My 512GB 950 Pro gets the IOPS numbers it's supposed to.
