Laptop stuck in desktop network (needs Ethernet cable)

I have an older HP laptop, not to old as it runs windows 8 but i decided to reset it when i bought it from someone and now it can only be used with ethernet cable. My question is how do i enable the wifi feature?

When i purchased the laptop, the wifi feature worked. I was connected to my wifi an using the laptop.

You need to find out what Wifi card it had and look on HP website under support for your model. Then download current Wifi drivers and install.

It wasnt mentioned that the harddrive was taken from the Hp laptop and put into a toshiba laptop. The harddrive is actually a toshiba harddrive as well. When this harddrive was in the HP everything worked fine. As far as the wifi goes that is. I reset the HP laptop with that harddrive in it and thats when the wifi problem occurred. I move that harddrive into a better computer i have which in this case is the toshiba and the same problem occurred. Hence the reason im here! My sister forgot to mention like 85% of the story!
