Hy guys,

I need advice. Currently i have Intel Core i5 4670K (no OC) and it serves me great but there is one problem. People are talking that AMD CPUs in DX12 games will be better and will get more FPS in games 'cause they have more cores.
I don't know should i replace my cpu for an AMD FX 8350 CPU. If yes than i will buy some aftermarket cooler and good MB.

Please i need advice.

P.S Sorry if my english is bad.

The FX processor line is rather outdated even compared to the 4670 I would stick with your current i5 maybe get an aftermarket cooler and OC it a bit, but if you were to update I would suggest going to a skylake processor.

But what about graphic cards. I have GTX 770 with only 2GB VRAM. Should i replace it with AMD R9 390 or GTX 970 'cause i am pretty sure that DX12 games will eat GPUs VRAM memory.

First rule of upgrading: unless you're suffering from quantifiable "performance issues", don't - it's a waste of money.

In response to the exact query ... whilst AMD CPUs can have more cores, they are not fully independent - some hardware is shared between each pair of cores (branch prediction engine, instruction fetch & decode, floating-point unit, cache controller, L1 & L2 cache). This means that any performance scaling will likely not be the same as if they had fully independent cores. Also, Amdahl's Law implies that adding more cores largely results in diminishing returns due to the presence of serial code (IIRC, it's something like speedup = (1 - S) ^ C, where S is the percentage of serial code, and C is the number of cores).

This should be an exciting year for new GPUs. Your current card is very good. I would wait until the new generation of cards from Nvidia and AMD come out and then evaluate your options then. Unless your 770 isn't satisfying your needs now, there is no reason to upgrade yet.

Yes but in some games like AC Syndicate, ARK Survival Evolved etc. i have very big FPS drops - from 45 to 7.
I don't know is it problem in my GPU VRAM usage or is it a bad game optimisation?
