Im trying to troubleshoot whats going on with my PC. and every thread that I read, they talk about bios beeps. while I dont hear anything at all.. Can anyone recall if this motherboard comes with a speaker? This is the first time hearing about it for me lol. And wouldnt it be possible to use external speakers for your pc to recognize beeps or isnt that possible?

Thank you

most new mb now dont have the speaker on them. it cost a few buxcks to buy one.

but they only work if the mb is trying to post and there a hardware failure. most new mb have fault led and or debug led codes.if your power supply is bad your mb may not post. when debugging a pc take it down to one ram stick and onboard video see if it posts or there any fault led on. if there no post and the cpu and fans twitch then try a test power supply.

also pick up a cheap pci post card to see if the mb is posting.

You may be hearing it and not realize it. When you boot your pc from an off state, you'll hear things whir up (fans, hard drive) and then a real quick BEEP. That's the bios beep, typically that means everything's fine. Bios beep codes (the sound pattern they beep in, like morse code. EX: 2 long beeps and one short beep would mean issue with ram. Bios beeps are really only useful to me when troubleshooting a machine that will not boot into BIOS.

Older desktop pc's have what is obviously a speaker. Newer ones use a tiny speaker that looks a lot like a can/capacitor. I'm not aware of any bios that automatically play out over your speakers and I'm really glad they don't. I really don't want bios beeps coming from my 5.1 surround system or relying on my sound card working.
