My PSU is making a lot of noise the last few days. I think it's the fan and the PSU also makes a slight crackling/humming noise. It gets louder while gaming, but it should handle the load right? If I put pressure on the top it stops the crackling/humming but the fan is still in overdrive. At the moment it's the loudest component in my rig.

Asrock 970pro3
AMD FX-4300
AMD R9 280x
16gb G.Skill
3x 120mm noctua fans, 2 of them attached on cpu cooler.
1TB Western Digital 7200rpm

Just now while gaming my rig crashed as it never has done before. Black screen all of the sudden and zero response, had to hard reset my precious...

Is this power supply either insufficient for my hardware, or is it just a faulty model?

I thought this was suppose to be a decent PSU but now I'm afraid to even turn on my pc after this crash.. Thanks in advance!

Edit: reboot gives me a black screen! everything powers on correctly as far as I can see. Could anyone explain what is going on?

Solution
If it was me, I'd be tempted to rma the psu because the crackling is not something I'd expect to hear. Have you played games on it since you put your new GPU in?

Couldn't test a lot since my old PSU doesn't have the proper cables. I added my old R7 240 to see if I that works and it did. Then I switched back to my R9 280x and everything seems to be working again. Now what would be the best way in handling this situation? My PSU is 3 months old now so it should run like a charm. Everything is connected properly as it has been running quite a lot in the past 2 months.

I bought the Seasonic just because I didn't want to overload my old PSU with the R9 280x. I've been gaming with it a lot since the past 3 months. Only to hear the Seasonic going in overdrive last couple of days. I'll give the retailer a call now.

Update: Sending the Seasonic back, I should be getting it repaired or an entirely new one. Thanks for the help.
