New build, powered up for the first few seconds then shuts off. The fans will start during the first few seconds while the MB starts up. However, there is not enough time to get into BIOS. Tried resetting RAM and GPU. Getting code FF on the motherboard. When I looked up the code it read "Reserved for future AMI errors". Its my first build on my own, but I have seen others build many other times. The MB and GPU light up, so they are getting power, but I'm at a loss on what I should try next.

Asus crosshair V Formula-z Motherboard
AMD 9370
Asus AMD 390X
2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
EVGA 750 G2 Power supply
Kingston 120GB SSD
NXZT 530 case

The MB has a LED light that is a CPU error after reading the manual front to back. Could this of happened because I applied too much thermal paste? Should I attempt to clean and retry setting my CPU? Could that alleviate my issue?

I don't think you have enough power to get it going, that processor is a bad mistake 220 Watt power draw you never listed your CPU cooler but it takes very high end cooling. With that processor you need extra cooling on the chipset also.
You could try taking out the high power draw video card and put in a entry level card an see if it will power up.
Try one stick of memory at a time moving it down the slots.
Updating BIOS on the motherboard...
From their I would be looking at bent pins on the processor and you really need around a 1K power supply.
Post before you buy.
