I own a Note4, and recently today I had gotten a replacement note 4 from Sprint because my other had glitched out.

I went downstairs in my house for a brief period of time, (15 minutes or so) and came back to my room to reply to my friend. A message popped up on my phone. ( Phones texting app )

Austina "___ Enter message here ____" for privacy sake.

After being confused as I have no one in my phone named that, I opened my messenger app and the message was not there.

I asked a few of my friends if they knew anyone named Austina and one had told me yes, their friend named Austin, is named Austina in there phone. I then told them word for word what the text said and apparently, the text was meant for them. They even provided Picture evidence, of them receiving the same exact text I had.

So i'm wondering what is going on here, we are not with the same company, I am tied to sprint, - her Verizon.
and I some how received her message, when it was not forwarded or directly sent to me. It also disappeared moments after I tried to open it.

I'm pretty skeptical to use the Messenger App. Has anyone had any sort of instances of this?

if the person who sent the email saw that they cc some people and not just the person they wanted. some mail clients lets you recall those opies emails. if it was recalled it go poof whe nyou try to open it. some mail clients will tell you it was recalled from sender. if it was not recalled then the issue could be with the simm card in the new phone. if a simm card goes bad or is acting up it can do stange things. if it was a new phone and card...most phones take a few houres to lock in ait ha new simm card. durning those set up and program time a phone can glitch. same as when a cable isp and cable boxes are turned on at a home for the first time. it can take a set time for all the channels to work.
