So I have a hard drive(toshiba) that was taken from my brother's old computer. Windows 8 is already installed on it im just trying to replace my old hard drive with it(dell desktop with all original parts), it says in my bios that its there, and I set my 1st boot priority to hard disk, when I save and exit it just gives be a black screen with a blinking text bar in the top left corner. Please somebody I need to get this done

Solution
As has already been mentioned you will need to reinstall Windows. The drive came from a different computer so Windows as well as the motherboard drivers won't work with your computer. If you have the Windows 8 install disk it should be easy enough to do.

So after I set the floppy to disabled, it sent me right back to the black screen with the blinking text bar in the top left corner. If your going to answer please explain I'm detail. My specs are amd athlon (tm) 64 x2 dual core processor 4400+ and I'm trying to put a Toshiba dt01aca100 hard drive in it with windows 8 already installed

I do have the asus support cd that came with the comp the hard drive originally belonged too. Support DVD rev 1.0, desktop pc gt640. It wont boot to this CD though so I'm guessing it's a dead end? It just gives me the same black screen with the blinking bar in the top left corner
