I'm building a new gaming PC and these are specs:

PSU – Corsair VS650W
CPU – Intel Core i7-6700K
RAM – G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB
GPU – MSI GeForce GTX 970
MOBO – MSI Gaming Z170A Gaming M5
CASE – Define R5
HDD – Seagate 2TB

As you might of noticed from the title and specs I've been having some trouble picking a CPU cooler. I don't want to go with liquid cooling due to difficulty but I want it to be silent. And what fans should I purchase for good airflow in the Define R5?

PS: If liquid cooling is a fairly easy installation i do not mind buying a liquid cooling kit.

Thanks.

Hey Vic :) Do you have a budget for the cooler and fans? Or any preferences as far as aesthetics? If you are looking for an all black theme, the be quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 is a nice looking air cooler and the fans follow the name. For case fans the Fractal Venturi line of fans is pretty nice, Noctua's Industrial PPC line of fans are some of the quietest fans you can get. Any liquid cooler does well though. If you want to color coordinate, the NZXT Kraken water cooler all-in-ones blend in well and have a nice RGB logo. Most other AIO's are black and will serve you well too.
If you want to see better gaming performance however, it would be more worthwhile for you to put your money into a higher end GPU and spend less on the cooler, although the 970 is still a great performer for 1080p and higher :)

Would a noctua nh-d14 do a good job?

Without a doubt. The D14 is a fantastic cooler. As shown here ( http://www.relaxedtech.com/reviews/noctua/nh-d15/8 ), it outperforms the Dark Rock Pro 3 and even a few water coolers and, being a Noctua product, you can expect quiet fans :)
