Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphone
Z97X gaming 5 motherboard
nzxt s340 case

Symptom:

I realized there's a problem when playing skyrim, that I cannot hear clearly people's voice if I face straight to them. If turning left or right the sound is much clearer. Later I test with a 5.1 surround sound video on youtube, the sound from center channel can barely be heard, other channels are just fine.

Later I tried to use the audio jack on motherboard and it works perfectly.

I suspect it's the problem with the front panel audio jack on the case, but don't really understand the theory behind it. Anybody can explain?

The Momentum is designed for use on mobile devices like Smartphones and as such require a special type of 3.5mm jack.

the front panel ports on pretty much any case on the market will always cater to stereo headsets meant for the desktop environment and for this reason you'll see some headsets bundled with a splitter/adapter when they claim it's compatible with mobile devices, PC's and console's as well. You could get a splitter for your front panel and connect it to your headset and hopefully the headset will be fully operational.
