Can I add hardware to this really old computer to improve it's performance?

This computer is really old. Windows 7 hp pavilion slimlime, GeForce 6150SE Nforce 430, AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor, 3Gb of ram. System model is s57132.

I am kind of new when it comes to messing around with computer hardware. Was mostly curious if it's possible to add ram sticks from another broken computer to this one, switching out the 3gb ram for 6gb ram total. Will this computer have a good enough power supply? I have no idea is this is compatible at all. I also do not know the brand of ram I would be switching over, or if that even matters.

I am just trying to find ways to make this garbage computer worth more than it's current state. Yes it's old, and this little "upgrade" would be very temporary. For at least 2 months until I can afford a new rig.

Solution
Since HP decided to cheap out on the motherboard, there are only 2 RAM slots in your system, each of which can take up to a 2GB stick. No 6GB, I'm afraid, only 4GB :( Btw, upgrading the RAM doesn't affect the load on the power supply by any noticeable degree, so that's not something you really need to worry about. I'm going to make an assumption and say that your current system has 2+1GB, and the broken one has 4+2GB. You should be able to take the 2GB stick from the broken one and replace the 1GB stick in the HP. I wouldn't bother replacing anything else, honestly.

That is what I thought. Thanks for the advice. I might go ahead and switch the ram then. Thanks for the reply. One last thing. My old computer had 2 3gb sticks. Were you saying that I cant switch out the two 2gb ram sticks for the two 3 gb ones?

3GB sticks? That's something you don't see a whole lot of...
You won't be able to use any of the 6GB, since 3GB is such an oddball size that the HP machine will just 'nope' its way into not booting. In essence, maxing out your RAM requires 2 2GB sticks, nothing else will work.
