Intel Core 2 Duo E8335 Confusion

**I'm want to upgrade my old ASUS P50IJ's Intel T4300.

I plan on getting either the Intel E8335 or the T9600. I'm not doing any hardcore gaming, but I want at least a 2.5 GHz CPU in the laptop. BUT, from the websites I visited (Ebay and CPU-Boss), the E8335 has either 2.93 GHz or 2.66 GHz.

Which one is it??? Its confusing me because on CPU boss it says the 8335 has 2.93 GHz, while most of the Ebay search results show that it has 2.66 GHz.

Solution
The T9600 is about 10-15% faster than the E8335 2.66Ghz, but I need to check which RAM and chipset it's compatible with, before answering your question... the problem is there isn't much information available but I'll try and update this answer when I find more usefull information.

UPDATE:
According to the information in this sheet, your T4300 can be upgraded to the T9600, and also to the E8335 2.93Ghz... and to even to better performing CPUs.

The website that should tell for sure is the ark.intel website but it doesn't seem to have it included in the E8000 series editions, so you have to go with the information in your own system... Go to control panel > System > CPU specs and running clock speed (Mhz) should be registered there. If still in doubt, check the BIOS CPU specifications.. that should be the most exact information you can find. You can also check with a system information program such as HWiNFO that reads specifications from either system or BIOS not sure from which but should be accurate enough.

Verify it with this CPU-Z image

I don't have either CPUs though, I'm interested in gettings the best one out of those 2, but because of the GHz confusion I haven't decided yet :/

Found the reason different clock speed is given... apparently there are two versions of the E8335 Core2 Duo.
Intel Core2 Duo E8335 @ 2.66GHz 1754 from early 2008 and
Intel Core2 Duo E8335 @ 2.93GHz 2167 from early 2009...
you just need to find out which version you have.

EDITION
OK... didn't update the page before posting this... well get the faster version from 2009 at 2.93... the numbers (1754, 2167) are the benchmark results so the faster mhz and better performing version should be the one to get.

The T9600 performance is intermediate between both E8335 versions... so forget that one.

Your laptop has socket P (478) and wich RAM?

Yes, that is the correct laptop model. And because it has DDR2, I should go with the 2.66 GHz E8335?

EDIT:
Also, If the above is true, and I had to go with the 2.66GHz over the 2.93GHz, would it be better to get the T9600 with 2.8GHz over the 2.66Ghz E8335?

I did some research, they the T9600 has the same chipset (Socket P (478)) as the T4300, which is the CPU installed on my laptop. User InvalidError says " The info I can find about C2D-T9600 says it uses DDR2, not DDR3."

Since the T9600 seems capatable with the DDR2 I currently have, and it matches the PGA478 chipset, Should I get the T9600 instead of the E8335?
