Ok I am not a computer expert so I've never come across this and have no clue what is going on or where to even begin to solve it.

I have an HP Envy with Windows 8.1 OS. I've had it like a year and a half and for some reason it says I only have 22.4 MB out of 668 GB available right now(because it changes every time I refresh it). I just checked after typing the last sentence and now it says 9.80 MB. This is absolutely crazy. I have used it almost exclusively for homework (like maybe 30 papers) and browsing. I have some pictures(63 MB) and downloads(documents and pics)(628 MB) so no movies, music, games or anything that would even take up that kind of space. I also tried deleting some of my old assignments but that didn't help and I'm positive this is an error because of the constantly changing amount of free space.(now showing 32.1 MB)

Can anyone tell me what is going on or how to fix this? Thanks so much.

Hi there shelise hall,

Is your all storage space allocated? You can check that out if you go to Disk Management. In case you have some unallocated space, you can either create a new partition or right click on the existing one and extend it.
In case you've allocated all the storage space, you can start with just scanning the drive with some antivirus/malware tool as basroil suggested. Also, you can use some disk analyzing tool which will show you what is using up the space.

Hope this will help,

If you can free up enough disk space to install this program (roughly 5-6MB), please do so so you can see what is eating up so much of your disk space.

TreeSize Free: https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/download.shtml

Once it is installed, open it up (make sure to run it as administrator), look for "Scan" on the top menu bar, and select your C:/ drive. Let it scan through and it should tell you where all the files that are taking up so much space are. Please report back your results.

My guess is it may be some sort of infection or a continually building log file from something like an antivirus program. I have seen certain settings enabled in Kaspersky to cause a giant log file to build up that was over 300GB. Just let us know.
