Hello,

I have the Intel Core i7-6700 (without the K) processor.

And I have the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 3000 MHz CL15 XMP 2.0 DDR4 RAM.

On the BIOS the RAM says it's running at 2166 MHz, so I can only figure that to make it run at 3000 MHz I have to overclock it.

Is it safe to overclock it to 3000 MHz without overclocking the CPU?

Thanks so much.

If the DIMMs have heat spreaders and the case has good airflow, then you stand a better chance than those with neither. Overclocking always carries a degree of risk, so I won't say that's it definitely safe, but if you're methodical about it, overclocking is generally fine.

I assume you're doing this by adjusting the XMP Profile and BCLK, if necessary?

Yes, they have heat spreaders, and has good airflow.

Yeah, I was thinking about adjusting de XMP, the BCLK I'm not really sure of what it is...
