I recently replaced the cooling fan on my XFX Radeon 5850 card; I ran HWMonitor after I installed the card and to my horror, I saw that the temp was 128 C and the fan speed exceeded 4600 rpm! Has anyone encountered this before? I took it apart and re-applied thermal paste thinking it may have been applied incorrectly, to no avail. I am running Windows 10 64-bit OS, ASRock 970 Extreme MOBO, and 8 GB DDR3 RAM. HELP!!!

I replaced the fan with an aftermarket fan purchased from eBay; we tried a different card in the MOBO slot and it read a normal temp,so I don't think the sensor was damaged. The air flow is correct, as the exhaust is coming out of the rear vent of the card. No, I not do bot own an Infrared Laser Thermometer. The card is apparently running cool though.

OK - I wasn't aware there was one on the card. I would imagine since the sensor on the card was apparently damaged during the fan switching, there's not much recourse in repairing it, is this correct?
