CPU fans will randomly max out, display goes to sleep mode, computer restarts

Hi everyone.

About last week my computer started experiencing the problem above. It would occur at anytime, from when my computer just turned on to several hours after use, to when I'm shutting down. I have six case fans and I set up a very powerful fan to make sure this wasn't an overheating issue, and I've replaced the PSU to see if that was the issue, but the problem persists. I've also tried unplugging all of my peripherals and checking each RAM card individually. It appears that one of the RAM cards is somewhat related because when removed the issue seems to occur less often, but it also may be random. My main question is what do you guys think the issue could likely be? Is the CPU thermal paste ineffective, is there a motherboard problem, etc? I've looked up online about this problem with little helpful results so any advice would be great. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

Ok. Was concerned if it was a liquid AIO. If the pump inside were to be having issues and stopping, your CPU temps can spike in a hurry and overheat. Not sure thermal paste is an issue here. Just make sure your heatsink is making good solid contact with your CPU and that its got a good amount of pressure on it. Some older boards, like ASRocks back in the day, were known for having a thinner PCB and it would prevent heatsinks from tightening down well on the CPU and making chips run hot. Additional washers needed to be added to the back of the board to get them to tighten down.

Sounds to me like you may have a motherboard problem. Do you know anyone with a compatible cpu that will let you test to make sure that the cpu isn't the problem? Also could you provide a parts list?

I don't have another CPU to test it out unfortunately. I have checked the temps and they always appear to be fine but I can't check them when the error occurs because the computer freezes up. I'm going to get some more thermal paste and reapply it to the heatsink and see if that is the issue.

Parts:

AMD FX 8350
MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
EVGA NEX 750 G
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
