Hello everyone, recently built a PC, ran into many problems because its my first build.
I lost one of the jumpers for the USB thing, but I plugged one of them in for the CMOS and one for USB.
Whenever I open my PC my monitor says "USB Device over current status detected !!"
Please help, here are my specs.
MOBO: h81m-plus
Case: Corsair spec-01
GPU: GTX 960 4gb strix
CPU: G3258
PSU: EVGA 500W non modular
Ram: Crucial ballistix sports 2x4 8GB
Hard drive: Seagate barracuda

Solution
God Im confused.

Are you sure you using the word 'jumper' correctly? By my definition, a jumper is a small two pronged tool used to connect two electrical inputs and 'jump' power between them.

By that definition, I have no idea why you would be using jumpers at all? You should just be plugging the Front panel IO in to your board, thats it! Remove any jumpers you have installed, especially anything to do with your CMOS!

There are 3 jumpers, one for CMOS and two for the USB
The Fpanel usb doesnt work anymore because of this, however, it works on the motherboard.
Any clues

This error message refers to a problem where you have connected the USB ports incorrectly. Remove whatever you have plugged in regarding USB ports, and start again ensuring you are doing everything according to the motherboard manual.

There are 3 USB ports on the motherboard, one of them is a usb 3, then 2 of them are usb 2.0
Tried both already.

Unplug every single USB cable connected to your motherboard. Try and boot the PC and let me know what happens!

EDIT: Just re-read the OP for clarity - you say whenever you 'open your pc', does this mean physically open it via the side panel, or start it up?

Well, same thing, I removed the USB connectors, and the PC booted, Keyboard LEDS are working, but gives me these 2 errors.
Enter SETUP to recover BIOS setting (not sure if error)
USB Device over current status detected.
Could it be the missing jumper?

Right, I thought you meant that you were adding jumpers on yourself - didnt realise you were talking about the ones already pre-installed on the board. Finally I understand your issue! haha

The CMOS jumpers default position should be over pin 1+2 (where 1 is the furthest left, and 2 in the middle, and 3 on the right). If its on 2+3, it will reset the boards memory.

The other two on your board are for the USB device wake-up feature (that allow you wake the PC up from sleep by pressing buttons on your kb+m).

If you do not have these in their default positions, it will cause issues with your boot.

You say you lost one? As in totally lost and unrecoverable lost? Or could it just be in your motherboard box?

Haha, brilliant - issue was just the jumper not on then, simple.

Its been so long since Ive seen a jumper based motherboard, it took me a while to get back in the swing of things!

Glad your back up and running, enjoy your PC :)
