Black screen after Windows logo when using GPU

I've recently just rebuilt my PC using a combination of stuff from my current build and new parts. My specs are:

Intel i7-4790k CPU
ASRock H97 Pro4 Mobo
Kingston Blu 8gb (2 x 4gb) RAM
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2gb Windforce GPU
Seasonic G 550w 80+ Gold Semi modular PSU

The motherboard, CPU and PSU are brand new. Everything else including my hdd and 2 ssd's are from my old computer.

I built my PC and connected my monitor to my GPU. My PC turned on fine so I started to reinstall Windows. I even reformatted my boot SSD so everything would be as fresh as possible. Once Windows finished installing it took me to the desktop. From there, I started to install drivers. I did mobo drivers first so when that was done I restarted my PC. This is where issues come up.

Here's what happens: I turn on the PC, bios screen shows up, Windows logo shows up then my monitor goes black. My PC remains on but I get no picture at all. It's like my monitor goes off or something. I can stay in the bios menus as long as I want. It's just when Windows loads that some kind of error happens. The only way I can access my PC is if I completely take the GPU out and only use the onboard graphics. I KNOW this GPU works because it worked fine in my previous build. I'm using pretty much the same parts and the same OS so I really don't know what the issue can be. The only way I can get to my desktop using the GPU is if I completely reinstall Windows. Turning off my PC and then turning it back on seems to trigger the issue.

I have no idea of this is a driver issue or a hardware issue. When I tried to install nvidia drivers first the issue happened too! Could I have not plugged in something right? My computer works perfectly if it's just using the onboard graphics from the mobo. Only when I use the GPU is when I get this error so I don't know if this is a huge hardware issue. I've been messing around with this issue for 2 days and still haven't found a solution so any help will really be appreciated.

I have seen this happen when the native resolution isn't compatible with a monitor or the output device. The reason why it works on your onboard graphics is because the Windows drivers are good enough to support visual.

When you were installing drivers, did you install the drivers for that graphics card yet? Or were you trying to do that with the card inside? Sometimes it has to be reversed.

When I had the card inside and downloaded drivers from nvidia the issue happened. Both from the cd and the actual website. It worked fine up until the actual installation was happening. Like, when you download graphics drivers your screen blacks out and comes back? Mine blacked out and never came back. So DURING a GPU driver installation the issue happened.

And when my card isn't in use, I can't download nvidia drivers because my computer doesn't recognize a compatible nvidia device. If my card is in my PC I can't get any kind of picture until I take it out. So I can only access my computer with the onboard graphics if my card is gone.

Real strange. The only other thing I can think of is the default GPU option in the BIOS (if there is one). Check the BIOS for video options and see what you can find there. You may have to enable external video, I have heard cases of this with MSI boards and 1-2 others.

You're in the diagnostics tool, I'm talking about the actual motherboard BIOS. When you boot up, you get prompted to press a button for "Setup". Press that button and it will get you in the BIOS. Find the option for using external video in there.

No I know what you meant. I'm saying I already did change bios to prefer pci-e as primary vga over onboard.

The pictures I showed you is what I see when I went into dxdiag and bios shows that it is recognizing the card is there. My question is: does that all look normal to you? Specifically you can see that instead of saying exactly what my card is it just says "display only device".

Yeah, I'm just not sure how to fix that issue though. When I try to install drivers I get the black screen and am unable to continue. Is there a way to use the onboard as my primary vga but still have the card installed so Windows can detect it and I can install the drivers? I'm not sure what else to do.
