I would check out the GTX 750ti it's a nice budget card that will give you a nice boost with your system. Honestly your system is a little dated not sure if you can hit 150fps with it more like 40-60

That really isn't possible. The only way you could find a decent GPU at that price your other system components will hold you back. I'm not saying that you won't be able to any gaming what so ever. However, an average 150fps is, uh, a bit of a dream.

You would have to do a whole new build. The motherboard is last generation so you can't reuse it. The RAM, CPU, and most likely the PSU are all outdated and will need to be replaced. Depending on your case and hard drive you may be able to reuse them, but you may not want to if you do a new build.

Imo, I would wait and save. Maybe get a summer job or just a regular job? You could piece something together for 300 but it wouldn't be great. If you caneed save at least 500 you would be better off.

You could spend 300 now but it would become obsolete quickly and at that price range there isn't much of an upgrade path.

This machine will get you further for under 600 euros. http://de.pcpartpicker.com/p/Q4hQXL.

As far as the build itself goes I would invest a bit more time into finding a beter power supply (stay away from the corsair cx sereis).

In all honesty, the only thing this build is missing is an SSD, but the HDD will be just fine.

Im trying to give him current technology not a long in the tooth CPU from 2012. He could choose to get an i5 instead of the i3 if he was willing to spend a little more but at least he would have something that isn't already obsolete.

The 6300 will perform much better than the i3 for 30 euros less. The board is also better and I was able to include a good quality psu and a gtx950 all for under 600 euros. The i3 may be able to run some games equally as well as a 6300 but it can't compare in the newer triple A titles.

On the subject of longevity, the i3 is essentially a dual core processor and will not do well on newer games. You need at least an i5 or a true four core processor. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are dead. Developers now can develop games that are not held back by single core processors and low amounts or ram allowing them to utilize higher core counts and leaving 2 core cpu's in the dust.

That i3 goes in intel's current skylake socket lga 1151 so as I said he has the option of the i5 or even an i7 from the current generation not a CPU that is already 4 years old. And not essentially an i3 is a dual core it is a dual core one that can compete with your aged FX cpu.

Then you are not aware of the way game development works. The last gen consoles have been holding pc gamers back for a long time now. The fact that they are no longer supported means that game developers no longer have to deal with them. Instead they lowest denominator is the next gen console with more ram and better cpu's. This will mean that new games will most likely have no load screens and a version of Gta where every building was explorable can be possible.

One my topic of core count, it's basis was the same as the above. Last gen consoles had single core cpu's; this is not the case with the new ones. SO higher core counts on PC' will now be utilized as developers can create games that utilize them. The i3 is not a gaming cpu and it will only prove this in the future.

I am not denying the age of the FX series. However, what you are doing is completely disregarding them due to the sheer fact of their age.

The ps3 was multicore and xbox 360 had a triple core cpu not a single core, and they had different architecture than computers they weren't based on x86. Starting with xbox one and ps4 have they been based on x86 architecture.
