I can only can get the server to boot from the supplied HP smartstart disk. I have tried nas4free, openmediavault, and windows 10 pro. I want to get openmediavault installed. When I try any disk other than the smartstart disk the bios just goes right past the disk drive. It just asks for a valid boot medium.

I am very new to the server world. The server was given to me by my boss who is the Network Admin so that I could grow my interest in this area.

The server is as far as I know 32-bit only.

2x Intel Xeon Processor 3.06 GHz/533 MHz
4Gb of ram
2x 36Gb 15k in RAID 1
2x ~72Gb 10k in RAID 1
2x 146Gb 10k in RAID 1

Hi

Originally they had cd roms as standard
You need a bootable cd with diagnostic software and suitable drivers for the raid controllers
Read up on setup using HP documentation

In many cases the hp smart start disk has drivers for operating systems supported by HP

I have not used ml 370 servers for a long time

We had raid 5 with 3 hard disks plus a hot spare and a scsi tape drive

They has windows 2000

Best of luck

Hi

Check if optical drive is a cd or a dvd drive
Look for a bootable cd to try
Win 2000 or win 2003 server versions as more likely to have raid drivers included

What hard disk controller is being used?
May need drivers supplied on floppy?

Is there any operating system currently installed ?
Which will allow you to run system information programs
And find drivers and hardware

Eg piriform speccy
