Absurdly strange wireless connection issue

I'm having trouble connecting to my home wifi network. The router/modem is from TWC, and is an ubee DDW365.

The issue first appeared about a week ago, prior to that, everything was fine. I didn't make any changes to the wireless settings or hardware. I can still connect to the network just fine, except from one room in the house. The room is not exceptionally far from the router, and the wifi analyzer app on my phone indicates that the signal in that location is reasonably strong and that the channel isn't crowded.

When I attempt to connect to the network in that one problem room, my phone says "authentication error". If I force the phone to attempt to connect again, the error disappears, and the phone refuses to connect.

The issue is not particular to just my phone. My wife's phone and laptop also fail to connect in this one location, despite good signal strength and a clean channel.

What on earth is going on here, and more importantly, what can I do to fix it?

the router is in the office. The problem room is the bedroom. This becomes an issue because when I flip through twitter or whatever at night before bed, I have to turn off wifi. Its eating all my mobile data. qq

I gave up. I moved, and it seems I left the poltergeist behind in doing so. Same equipment, bigger house, no issues.
