I bought a fffon Ebay Used/As Is around a year ago to run my PC in SLi mode... This Xmas my Missus bought me 16 GB Hyper Ram as a surprise gift! Never could get Slot 1 DIMM, so I used slot 3 until recently and forgot about this FACT!....(I suffer from memory problems in REAL LIFE TOO! (must be contagious?), from an accident in 2006. I'm here for PC help, not sympathy OK?
Doing my New Years Dust Bunny Clean-up on House-hold electronics and my PC, I found a non functioning fan in the dimm area, n.b.d... right? On closer inspection using Jewelers Glasses I noticed that # 4 dimm slot was missing about 3/8 of and inch of the slot(busted off!) of the Slot for the Ram Card!
With the now recognized problem that slot 4 dimm is now non-functional, would this also affect the OTHER dimm slots and Prevent Slot 1 from Functioning on the Bios as it should?
Any help with this is really appreciated! I think the MB may be a "Dead End" for more than one Ram Card with slot 4 being broken? I hope I'm wrong!!!
Thx

Although not tied physically to slot 1 I personally believe the the events that may have caused slot 4 to loose its identity is what has caused slot 1 to go dead. Ofc since I'm not the original owner I can only speculate. Judging by the way you've described it, the initial owner may have mistreated the board...

For motherboards with 4 slots, slots 1 and 3 are tied to each other while 2 and 4 are tied to each other and are recommended slots to populate if you'd like to activate dual channel mode. In the spirit of experimentation/discovery you might to populate slots 1 and 2 and run memtest86 to see if the ram/slots are being recognized.

Could you please pass on your full systems specs?
