Graphics card not working

So I was building my PC and every thing was going fine until I booted the computer up with a hard drive that had windows already installed on it which was windows xp. The hole thing kept showing a blue screen then it kept reloading the windows loading screen, so I turned it off and now the only way for me to get a a display on I have to take out the graphics card and put the vga cable through the motherboard for me to get display. So I'm getting really scared that my graphics card is broken, the fans do spin on it. Do I need to get a new hard drive and put new windows on it then update the driver will it wok then, plz help I don't want to waste $200.

Once you reinstall everything with a new OS, windows should automatically detect your GPU. If it doesn't, then installing the new drivers will fix that. Depending on your build, since support for Windows XP has been gone for quite some time, it is possible that certain parts weren't compatible at all. First of all, if it's a new build, you have to reinstall Windows from scratch. I suggest you backup any files you want to keep from that hard drive and then format the disk. It would be nice if you would post the specs of that PC, like the CPU, the GPU, the Motherboard, the PSU and the RAM.

So will my graphics card be fine. Do I have to install the graphics card driver then put the graphics card in because when I put the graphics card in it doesn't display. I'm getting a new hard drive and new os. Is it possible to install the gpu driver without it being in or does windows 10 will detect it I'm not sure how it works.

Once you receive Windows 10 and a new HDD, you should be correct. Once you'll receive the new HDD and OS, make sure that your video cable, either DVI, HDMI or VGA, is connected to your GPU's slots and not to your motherboard. I would also recommend that you keep the computer powered-off until the new stock arrives, simply to avoid creating more problems.

thank you so much.But when I get my new hard drive do I have the gpu in when I'm installing the new os or do I install the new os then put the graphics card in. Because I can't get the display with the Gpu in so do I install windows 10 without it then put it in. Sorry if I'm confusing I just don't want to mess up can you go by step to get the gpu working again.
