Would it be worth upgrading my i5-4690 to an i7-6700K?

I game on a 60Hz monitor and i do not like anything more than 60FPS i tried 120and 144 but idid not like it, call me weird but its my preference lol. I know i will need a new Motherboard and i would get the GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 and i guess a set of G.Skill 4x4GB DDR4 memory and i do not know what speed of memory to get because i do not know much but as long ass its faster than 1500MHz of what my DDR3 memory is now. But back to the topic, will upgrading to the i7-6700K be a huge performance gain when comparing to my i5-4690 i am using now?

no it wil not be worth it for gaming as it will cost alot to change mobo+ ram too and anything higher then 1600mhz is ok 1600mhz is the best ram speed anything higher does not give you more fps max 1-3 depending on games.

So no a gpu upgrade would be better then replacing the cpu as you will not se much fps gain in games.

What is your GPU? And no, upgrading the CPU will probably offer little performance compared to upgrading the GPU.

Your current 4690 is a non-K? In that case u would get a small fps increase but if it's a 4690K at 4.4ghz or more there's absolutely no difference for gaming, including games like battlefield 4 and guild wars 2 and since cannonlake is scheduled for 2017 buying a skylake mobo right now wouldn't be so future proof either. My advice is either save the money or upgrade your GPU/monitor instead.

It will not make a difference in most games. The i5-4690 is still a solid cpu and will not need to be upgraded for a good couple years. Of course, I can not predict the future, but generally, it is accepted that the i5-4xxx will last a few years. If you multitask alot, it might be a good choice, but like I said, most people are fine with the older i5.

1600MHz ram is perfectly fine. Faster ram will not make a noticable difference. Anything over that is purely for boasting to friends.

I'd suggest you going to 2x8GB sticks of ram, so you have an option for 32GB in the future. (who knows?)

I get 40-60FPS with V-Sync on of course at times on the witcher 3 with every possible setting on the game as high as it goes even Hairworks MSAA8x. I know almost no GPU can play a perfect 60 on every game, even at 1080p but i thought where i have a decent GPU i could get a perfect 60 on every game at 1080p with a better CPU. I was gaming at 1440p but i got 30-60fps and i hate that so i went back to 1080p so i could play games with settings all the way up and still get a great 50-60ish FPS. Until i get another GTX 980Ti and SLI them i will not be going back to 1440p anytime soon.

Well its a great card yes but it still dips in the low 50FPS, sometimes 40FPS on some games at 1080p and i thought a better CPU would makeme get a perfect 60FPS at all times.

Uh, practically any GPU GTX 970 and up will play a perfect 60FPS on 1080p. 4K is where things get rough. Anyway, most likely crapware slowing down your computer. What is idle CPU usage when you are not gaming? What is CPU usage of each core when you are gaming?

You'd definitely see some mild benefits in processor intensive games such as Cities: Skylines. You could save a few bucks by grabbing an i7-6700 however. The bclk overclock would be more than sufficient.

Not really, watch the benchmarks on Youtube. A 980Ti and even Titan X goes to low 50s sometimes 40 on very intence parts of games such as GTAV also. No card is ready for 4K in m opinion because even the Titan X sucks at 4K because you need to turn down almost ever Graphical setting. THe 980Ti is a monster of a card but still cant get perfect 60FPS with EVERY graphical setting up all the way on games such as Witcher 3 and GTAV. It gets 60FPS most the time but still dips. Also i have a fresh windows 10 and also my CPU uses 80% when gaming on intense games. At idle its like 10%

Really? I heard that the Witcher 3 is considered one of the best optimized games to be released in 2015. I have not experienced one bug in it and i got it, say a month after its release. But yea i may get another 980Ti. It may not handle 1440p good but i know it will kill and dominate at 1080p.

What about each core? Is each core at 80% in these games? Or is one of the cores actually hitting 100%? If one of the cores is, a stronger CPU will benefit you.

Also, what is GPU usage while gaming? Is it at 100% like it should? If GPU usage is at 100% and CPU is below, the only way to improve performance is a second 980Ti.

i got a really good deal on motherboard + free ram with a bundle only reason why i upgraded

i had a fx-8350 and intel have better single core peformance
