FPS drops while playing WOT from 45 to 10/Not heat issue

Hi there, I've been playing on my factory made, Intel laptop and because it is a low-end computer, I run it on low settings and get about 45-50 FPS. But just about every day, my frames will drop considerably to about 10-15 and my entire computer performance will be extremely hindered. This will continue for an half hour at least or several days at most. The laptop is about 6 years old and it has always worked quite well for gaming considering it's price tag until the last month or so. I am still looking to upgrade and build my own pc but I want to keep using this until I get the opportunity and/or funds to do so. I don't believe it is a Heat issue because I run at about 39C while gaming. It could be a RAM issue and if so, how do I take care of that? Since it is a laptop I have been advised not to replace any parts or risk causing other issues with the computer.
My CPU specs are:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU @2.10 GHz
Ram: 6.00 GB
64 bit

Solution
Only if temp was an issue so shouldn't have done anything. Your temps are lower than expected. Nothing seems wrong. If usage of all hardware is fine and so is speed and temps than it has to be software related.

My cpu usage is alright from what I can tell. It jumps back and forth from about 20% to 60% and my Physical memory stays at about 60%. 3.58 GB's it says. I use speedfan for my temperature monitoring.

Not unless you are dropping in the negatives and you can't be doing that without liquid nitrogen or the like. Then you may have condensation issues. Speedfan is one of the worst software for temps. Use hwmonitor, speccy, core temp, other better ones. Check your speed. Hdd usage?

I used hwmonitor and it says my temps are about 42 C. My speed is 798 MHz. Space is 449 out of 596GB's

800mhz when it's lagging? That might be it but check usage per core. Is that idle temp? Still very low for a load which may mean it's not the cpu bottlenecking. I meant hdd usage like how much is it being used bandwidth wise. I guess you are on windows 7 and can't check? Can you hear the hdd being very active or does it have a hdd activity light?

Yeah, I am on Win7. No, that is with the game running. I do hope it is not bottlenecking. By HDD being very active, do you mean the fans getting louder or actually hearing the cpu hum? Both cores are at 798 mhz. BTW, thx for your help. I am newish to the techie world and am still learning every day:D How do you check the bandwidth of the HDD?

If you're alt tabbing out of the game, then it will drop. As long as it stays up when it's needed, it's fine. The humming is probably hearing the electric motor in the hdd spinning the platters. Hdd activity could be heard from soft ticks from the hdd actuating arm moving around a lot. The fan deals with the cpu so that doesn't help since temps are fine there.

Yes, I do tab out of the game alot. But would it drop from 45 frames to 10 and stay there for multiple days because I tabbed out? It doesn't seem that likely. Is there a fix for having your mhz drop from 2100 to 790? I'm pretty sure that's the reason because when it drops I lose about 70-75% of the computer performance and the ratio for the mhz drop is about the same.

Sorry for the slow reply. Around 60% while I am gaming and 80% when not actually fighting. Then when I go back to main screen it is like 2%. This is while the cpu is working fine. It has worked ok for the last two days or so. I activated speedstep in bios. Could that be helping?
