computer slow after cpu upgrade

ever since i upgraded from i5 4590 to 17 4790k my computer has been much slowe,r talks a long time to boot especially on the bios screen. internet is generally much slower on it. the mobo is a asrock fatality z97 and iv tried updating the bios on it and it didnt do any good.

Check your CPU temps. You may have messed up the heatsink mounting and its overheating causing throttling

Did you update your Intel drivers? If you're still running on the I5-4690k windows drivers, of course you'll have problems. Before changing your CPU, you also have to do a CMOS reset, so that the motherboard adapts to the new CPU model.

Check cpuz and see if cores and speed is recognizing correctly. Sometimes windows doesn't automatically.
