I'm having a hard time deciding between the following two laptops, was hoping this amazing community could give me some advice! Primary use will be gaming, budget is $1500. Found both of these at a local vendor for that price. Any insight would be appreciated!

ASUS ROG G752

The link shows this unit with an SSD, my local shop has it without the SSD. Not a huge deal as I can buy and install one later on.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro

Everything that is shown on this link is included in the model in store.

The big differences I'm seeing between the two are that the MSI has the SSD and a much smaller form factor/weight compared to the ASUS. I don't travel but 2 or 3 times a year so not a huge deal, but it does affect me during those times. I am not looking for a desktop replacement in a laptop, but if that larger case on the ASUS means better cooling/performance I am okay with it. The ASUS has Nvidia G-Sync which I can't find anything saying the MSI has, as well as a better screen (IPS) if I'm not mistaken. My initial thoughts are saying the ASUS is a better rig, and if that is the case how much of a hassle is lugging around that larger/heavier chassis?

What are your thoughts? If I'm about to drop $1500 I wanna make sure I'm making the right choice. Thanks for your input!

If your not looking for a desktop replacement then just go for MSI. I have been using ROG G750 and recently upgraded to G752. But because of uni/college, i'm thinking of taking it back for the MSI GE or GS series, just due to it being portable. The ASUS ROG is massive and weighs slightly over 4kg. The screen is 17.3 inches but the actual laptop is much larger than that. But as you said, if you don't mind hauling around a bag of bricks then G752 is definitely the more higher quality machine. The G752 probably is more quiet and have better cooling than the MSI, also to consider.
