How do I know if my psu has enough watts to power my system. I'm about to do an upgrade adding a new cpu and cooler and I want to know if I need a new psu too.

This is what the specs will be after the change
Specs:
Cpu:Core i7 4790k
Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK 140mm UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte Ga-81M-H
Ram: 8gb (2x4) DDR3-1866
HDD: 1TB
GPU: Nvidia Gtx 960

Also my current power supply is 430W

Solution
500w would be enough but the one i linked is probably the best option for an inexpensive psu that is still high quality. Seasonic and Evga also have some that are worth looking at.

Recommended wattage for a gtx960 is 430w minimum. Nvidia official recommended wattage for a reference gtx960 is 400w. Partner cards tend to be higher performance, OC editions thus requiring slightly more power. Maximum power draw on your system will be around 320w with everything 100% load, which is almost physically impossible, average gaming loads being about 200-240w, hard pressed gaming with close to full cpu/gpu usage seeing @280w. The 430w psu is fine.
