This is probably an easy one for most . . . except for me!!

Comcast is the only choice in my area (sigh . . .). Long story short . . . I'm tired of bad wireless signals so I decided to stop calling Comcast and do it myself:

Comcast Set--up:
All-in one router with 4 ports on back

Here is my new set-up:
ARRIS SURFboard SB6183
Meraki MR18 wireless AP
TP-LINK 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch (TL-SG1008D)

The Arris only has one Ethernet port that I connect to the switch and then plug in the Merkai . . . . but the Meraki wireless cannot get linked . . . . the Meraki AP does just fine the with old Comcast Modem.

There must be something simple . . . . Help!!

Thanks in advance.

Ok, when you've connected the ARRIS, have you run the ethernet cable to a computer directly? You want to see if you have internet at that point - if you don't, you'll never be able to create a wifi signal from it.

Have you used the Meraki dashboard to create SSIDs?

Yes. Sorry. I should have mentioned that. I also can get internet when I connect to the switch.

I tried to plug the Meraki AP directly into the modem with same result as plugging into the switch.

I am thinking it comes down to the switch. . . . any thoughts?

. . and I also need to add that I did set-up the SSID within the Meraki dashboard when it was connected to the Comcast modem and it worked just fine . . I could see all of the connected devices (pretty impressive dashboard capability BTW).

Thanks again!
